What is a LinkedIn text formatter?

A LinkedIn text formatter turns plain text into Unicode letters that look bold, italic, underlined or struck through. LinkedIn posts have no formatting buttons, but LinkedIn shows these letters to everyone, so the style survives copy and paste into posts, comments and your profile.

How to make text bold on LinkedIn

Write your post above, select the words you want to stand out and press Bold. Then press Copy post and paste it into LinkedIn. Bold works best on two or three phrases a skimming reader must see: a number, a name or the one line you want remembered.

LinkedIn fonts: all 15 styles

LinkedIn has one font and no font menu. Type below and copy any style on its own. Bold, italic and sans bold read well in a feed. Script, Fraktur, Circled and Wide are decorative, so keep them to a word or two.

Five habits of LinkedIn posts people finish

  1. Put the hook in the first two lines. LinkedIn hides the rest behind "…more" after about three lines.
  2. Keep paragraphs to one or two sentences, with a blank line between them.
  3. Use a list when you have three or more parallel points.
  4. Bold two or three phrases. If everything is bold, nothing is.
  5. Check the phone preview: many people read LinkedIn on a phone.

From one formatted post to a steady habit

The formatter styles one post. Postel helps you post every week: it learns how you write from your past posts, drafts new ones from your notes and links, and publishes to your LinkedIn profile at the time you pick. See the LinkedIn post scheduler, or start a draft with the free LinkedIn post generator.
