What is Twitter analytics?

Twitter analytics is the set of numbers that shows how posts on X (Twitter) are doing: views, likes, replies, reposts, bookmarks and the engagement rate. You use them to see which posts reach people, which ones get a response, and whether an account is growing week to week.

This calculator works from the counts X shows on every public post. That means it works for your own account and for anyone else's, and you don't need X Premium or a login.

How do I see Twitter analytics?

On X, every post shows its view count next to the bar chart icon, and the author can tap it for more. The full dashboard at x.com/i/account_analytics has been for X Premium subscribers since June 2024. For a quick 7-day summary of any public account, use the calculator above.

For other people's accounts, X only shows the public counts on each post. According to X's developer docs, link clicks and profile clicks are visible to the author only.

How is engagement rate calculated?

Engagement rate is engagements divided by views, times 100. Here, engagements are likes, replies, reposts and bookmarks added together. It tells you how many of the people who saw a post did something with it. It's a rate by views, not by followers, so big and small accounts can be compared fairly.

Say an account's posts got 50,000 views in a week, with 900 likes, 120 replies, 150 reposts and 80 bookmarks. That's 1,250 engagements, and 1,250 ÷ 50,000 × 100 = 2.5%.

What does each number mean?

Every number in the report comes from the public counts on the account's posts from the last 7 days.

NumberWhat it tells youHow we count it
ViewsHow many times posts were seen. One person can count more than once. The public view count of each post, added up.
Views per postHow far a typical post travels.Total views ÷ number of posts.
EngagementsTimes someone did something with a post.Likes + replies + reposts + bookmarks.
Engagement rateHow many people who saw a post acted on it.Engagements ÷ views × 100.
Views by dayWhich days your posts drew the most views.Views of the posts published that day (UTC).

What is a good engagement rate on X?

X doesn't publish a benchmark, and rates swing a lot with account size, niche and how often you post. The most useful comparison is your own: check the same account every week and watch the trend. Compare other accounts only with ones of a similar size.

If you want a starting point, this is our own rough rule of thumb for a rate by views. It's not an X standard.

RateWhat it usually meansWhat to try
Under 0.5%Posts are seen but rarely acted on.End with a question or a clear opinion people can answer.
0.5% to 2%A normal range for many accounts.Look at your best post and do more of what it did.
Over 2%People who see your posts often respond.Post more often, so more people get the chance to see them.

Why is my rate different from X analytics?

X counts every click on a post as an engagement: likes, replies and reposts, but also link clicks, profile clicks, media clicks and opening the post. Most of those are private. This calculator counts only the public ones, so its rate is usually lower than the one X shows the account owner.

Views aren't unique people either. X counts a view each time a logged-in person sees a post, the author's own views count, and posts embedded on other sites don't add views (see X's help page on view counts).

How do I get more engagement on X?

Get more replies. In the ranking code X published in 2023, a reply was weighted 13.5 and a like 0.5, so one reply counted for as much as 27 likes. Posts that ask something, or take a side, give people a reason to answer.

  • Lead with the point. The first line decides if people stop.
  • Reply to the people who reply to you. The same code weighted a reply the author answers at 75.
  • Post on a steady rhythm, so each week has something to measure.
  • Study the posts that already work in your niche, then write your own take.

Postel does the steady part for you: it learns how you write, drafts posts for LinkedIn and X, and schedules them. You can also see any account's top posts or score a draft before you post it.
